Hi everyone and welcome to MichelleOK!! I’ve been going back and forth about starting a blog for the longest time and finally decided to bite the bullet! And what better way to launch my blog than with a recap from my time attending New York Bridal Fashion Week?!
You guys, this trip was everything and then some! It may have been a short trip, but wow did I leave with MAJOR wedding inspo.. and with the conclusion that I need at least 5 dresses for my wedding, oops! But seriously, how am I supposed to choose only ONE dress after all of the amazing designs showcased this weekend?
What I Did:
Like I stated before, this trip was super last-minute and super short. My galpal Emily and I flew up to New York Wednesday night and back to Tampa Saturday morning leaving us with only two full days in the city, but we made sure that we fit in everything we possibly could. From blowouts at DryBar (highly recommend) to shopping in Soho, we did it all.
Now on to the main reason I even went to NYC, New York Bridal Fashion Week. One thing I learned this past weekend was that bridal fashion week is a little different from the typical fashion week that occurs only a few weeks before. While there are still runway shows for designers to release new season collections, there are actually a lot of markets and appointment-only showings geared towards designers showcasing their gowns for potential “stockists” (ex- bridal boutiques, buyers).
I was lucky enough to score access to a few of the events that took place during NYBFW. My first event was the One Fine Day Bridal Market aka wedding heaven. There were about 30 designers there showing everything from the most amazing gowns to veils, shoes, and accessories. Everything at the One Fine Day Market was pure perfection and the atmosphere was so inspiring. I was also super excited to have been invited to attend the Kata Banko x Victoria Spector presentation, along with access to a few other showcases. However, I got a little too distracted with the 5th ave shopping, aka Zara (that location is life changing), and lost track of time.
Calling all bridesmaids…Weddington Way is your place to be! They offer a handful of different dress styles and almost all are available in the same color ways so it makes it easy to coordinate and mix and match dress styles. Their concept is “keep it simple” and they really succeeded at that with their ready to wear designs of simple silhouettes and thoughtful details.
What I Wore:
When picking out outfits for New York I wanted to make sure that I packed pieces that were both versatile and comfortable, since I wasn’t exactly sure what our days were going to look like. The weather was absolutely amazing compared to the deathly Florida heat and humidity which allowed me to break out a few fall items I had started collecting.
Wednesday- Flight to NYC
Thursday- Explore Day
This was our one free day to explore what we could of the city. I started out the day in this amazing camel colored off the shoulder sweater but as the sun peeked out more, I quickly transitioned into the most flattering twist front tee that everyone needs in their closet! P.S. if you’re looking for a comfortable alternative to a basic flat, then look no further than these loafers, they’re amazing!
Friday- Bridal Heaven..literally
Friday was when we attended all of our events, so I wanted to “dress my best” yet still be comfortable enough to endure all the walking that NYC calls for. I have had this skirt in my closet for probably 6 months but could never figure out where or what to wear it with, so I was super excited when I found this sweater and booties to pair perfectly. For my evening look I kept my bottom half the same but changed into the same white tee from the day before (don’t judge) and paired it with my newest obsession, the fiddler hat.
Saturday- Travel Home
At this point let’s just call this my travel uniform. I mean you know what they say, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” So, again I went for the same exact outfit but this time opted for a mom jean instead of skinny jeans.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my first post! Please, don’t be afraid to let me know what you think and what else you’d like to see below in the comments!
